Previous Security Sites of the Month:
November 2005
Our pick for Security Site of the Month is the "Microsoft TechNet Security Center", which continues to improve in both quantity and quality of information.  For the home user, there are numerous security-related articles, as well as free tools you can download to help protect your system.  For professionals, a TechNet Plus subscription should be a requirement if you work with Windows based systems and networks.  Microsoft puts considerable resources into the security arena, and continues to prove that it is committed to this issue.

October 2005
Our pick for Security Site of the Month is "Windows Secrets", another excellent site to add to your favorites list.  Even though Windows Secrets is not exclusively a "security" site, they offer so much important Windows security-related information that they fully deserve recognition in this category.  The site editors are the well known authors Brian Livingston and Paul Thurott, each of whom has helped many Windows users over the years.  The site offers an excellent newsletter, too.

September 2005
Our pick for Security Site of the Month is "CERT", the Computer Emergency Response Team located at the Software Engineering Institute operated by Carnegie Mellon University.  CERT offers unparalleled expertise in all aspects of computer security information.  The CERT Home Network Security section is but one example of their dedication to providing comprehensive yet easy to understand information for the average computer user.  We should all support projects such as CERT in any way we can, as they provide the foundation for the secure computing platforms of the future.

August 2005
Our pick for Security Site of the Month is "WindowSecurity.com", a TechGenix site.  WindowsSecurity publishes a number of excellent articles on a regular basis, by authors such as Brien Posey, Debra Shinder, Don Parker, Mitch Tulloch, Robert J. Shimonski and many other experts.  Their articles cover a wide range of security issues, and present solutions that are based in real-world experience.  The site offers tutorials, an IDS FAQ, a security newsletter subscription, and perhaps most useful, a Network Security Library.  This site should be on the "favorites" list of everybody involved with or interested in computer related security.

July 2005
Our pick for Security Site of the Month is "SearchSecurity.com", a TechTarget site.  TechTarget publishes Information Security magazine, an excellent journal for those who want or need to stay current with all manner of security issues.  The information and services available via "SearchSecurity.com" are timely and useful, as well as comprehensive and diverse.  If you have not made yourself familiar with the TechTarget family of information services, I urge you to do so.

June 2005
Our pick for Security Site of the Month is "Microsoft Security at Home", a portal to a wealth of security resources.  Microsoft provides security tools, many of which are free, security tutorials, almost all of which are free, and a wide variety of related information to help you protect your computer and your data.
